Welcome to the world Bailey!

Blogger's Challenge week #88: Alter anything

My friend just had a baby girl this evening and I had been planning on making her a little something. Baby arrived just before she's moving on Monday. It really stinks as there have been 4 of us getting together for years, with a few others joining at times, to stamp and scrapbook. We've already decided we'll have to stamp via webcam when she moves.

This is her 2nd daughter and I'm proud that I'm her oldest little girl's godmother. I was there when she was delivered and to watch her grow has been fun. We are going to miss having them around!!!

This frame (from the Target $1 spot (3 4 x 4 frames for $2.50...bargain!) was perfect for some High Hopes images my girlfriend Kristen sent me. I don't know why I have never bought any of them, as it was so much fun to color and practice with my Copics. I really wanted to do the ribbon at an angle in the corner, but it just wasn't working.

Make sure to check out the other blogger's by clicking on the blogger's challenge icon to the --->

Have a great weekend, baseball tournament here, so we'll be at the park. And my goal is to work out at least one more time before Sunday arrives.

Frame Details:

Stamps: Oops Ellie from High Hopes (thanks Kristen!)
Cardstock: Regal Rose, Whisper White, Pink Piroutte
Accessories: White ribbon colored with RV11 Copic, Ellie colored with Copics, Bailey tag printed on computer and circles and tag cut with nestabilities, Fire Rhinestone square brads, Swiss Dots cuttlebug

Patterned Birds & Bugs/SASSC2

If you haven't realized it by now, I have a hard time getting away from pink, blue, green color combination. My office is that color and I absolutely *LOVE* working with these colors.

I sat down and colored this new image the other night. I just received a few sets from Stamper's Dream and this Patterned Birds & Bugs by Inkadinkado was one of them. The set is fantastic and can't wait to use more of them.

This card was for Stamps & Smiles Sketch Challenge #2. They have some darling new stamps to be released soon. Join in the challenges, they are giving away the whole new release to one who does all the challenges. I have some catching up to do but I'm not too far behind.

Stamps: Patterned Birds & Bugs
Paper: Regal Rose, Bordering Blue, Certainly Celery, Basic Black, DCWV Posies Glitter Print
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Jumbo Eyelets, Rhinestone Fire Circle Brads, Ribbon unknown, Janome Sewing, Scallop Punch

Mystery Image Swap

Every month or so we do a Mystery Image swap on one of the groups I belong to. The illustrious and creative Pat Huntoon was our hostess this month. She sent this giraffe image from I Brake for Stamps which I thought I would have a hard time with and I really had to fight the urge to make a baby card as I thought it would be so cute.

This is a 5.5 x 5.5 square card using the Paper Pretties Challenge this week. I did leave off the 2 stars on the left hand side as I didn't want to cover up my sentiment. I used the Chit Chat rub-ons from Stampin' Up! for the sentiment.
Card details:
Stamp: I Brake for Stamps
Cardstock: Wild Asparagus "Celebrate" floral/brown paper, Bazzill textured
Inks: Copic markers, Brown
Accesories: Prima, Brown Ribbon, Scallop punch, Flower Brads, Chit Chat rub-ons

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #58

Loved this sketch and this card came together so easily! My husband is ALWAYS complaining I never have any kids cards for when my son goes to birthday parties. So, this new set I just bought called Hot Rocketz by Stampendous was perfect!

Pretty simple card using a scrapbooking kit I had from CTMH called Building Blocks. I have a ton of these kits but I don't scrapbook hardly every anymore so I will rummage through now and then to use some of the paper. I forgot about all the sticker sheets that come with the kit until I went through the stash a little more AFTER my cards was finished.

I practiced more with my copics and told my friend Kerry I really need to add more colors to my collection. I was showing this card to a friend who came over for dinner tonight (a different friend than Kerry) who originally got me stamping years ago and she was laughing at all the stamp stuff I now have. She sarcastically asked if I was glad she got me hooked. I laughed...in a way I am, but I can never afford all the stamping stuff I want :-)

Check out MJ's site for all the other cool cards the girls are creating with this sketch.

Mermaid Anya

I was on a roll this week, I stamped a little each night and managed a few cards. Why can't I be that productive on the weekends? Instead I want to crawl in to bed at 10 p.m. and SLEEP!!!

This was an interesting card. I colored my Anya with my copics and then chose the papers. I had this velvet looking paper that my friend had given me that I thought might look good with these colors. I combined it with a sketch from a few weeks ago from Paper Craft Planet.

Card details:
Stamp sets: Mermaid Anya by The Greeting Farm, sentiment from Princess set
Cardstock: Gerti Flower Velvet, Almost Amethyst, PTI White
Inks: Memento Black
Accessories: Kaiser Rhinestones, Stickles, White Ribbon

Bloggers Challenge #87

This week we had an inspiration piece to work from. It was the bedspread set above.

I pulled out my neglected Just Rite stamps and went to work on some note sets for myself. I've been wanting to make these for a VERY long time and really need to do some more for gifts, but this was a start. Although at the time I thought the colors looked closer, now I see they are just a few shades off. The picture above is more rust. Oh well!

These are simple note cards using some retired SU paper that someone had given me. I have about 12 sheets of it that I haven't used and like this so much I think I may end up using the rest of it to create more note cards.

Very easy to create. Are you like me though? Is running those nestabilities through the Cuttlebug a pain in the butt or what? It gives such a dramatic addition to a card/project, but takes forever for me to break everything out. I get sidetracked doing it. Now, I guess if I had a place to permanently put the cuttlebug it wouldn't be so bad. What are the chances I can get my husband out of the office and have it all t myself??? I can dream, can't I?

Check out the rest of the bloggers out there by clicking on the logo on the right hand side. They are sure to impress you with their creativity.

I'm off to the dentist (again) to follow up on my wisdom teeth removal. I'm sure glad I indulged in the prime rib dinner the night before I had my teeth pulled as eating jello, smoothies, yogurt only gets you so far.

Have a great weekend!

Mojo Monday #74/Bird Challenge

Last night I was able to sit down and create this card pretty quickly and I really like how it turned out. And Kerry, I didn't use my copics either :-) But, if you see this then there is no suprise as it's being mailed to you. Hope you like it!

I used Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch for this, worked perfectly for it! It is for a swap using ALL Stampin'Up! which I haven't done in a very long time so it was nice to break some things out. I wish I had more of the new stuff, which my list grew a little bit last night after finally sitting down and going page by page through the new catalog.

Card details:
Stamp Set: Priceless, Pun Fun
Cardstock: Green Galore, Gable Green, Tempting Turquoise, Confetti White, Rainbow Sherbert DSP
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Apricot Appeal, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore (reinkers)
Accessories: Green Apple ribbon, Circle punches, stickles (okay, not SU!)

Sketch for Candy

Decided to participate in Marie's Sketch for Candy. I haven't used my Rock Star Anya in awhile so decided she could use some coloring ;-)

I'm still recovering from my wisdom teeth removal on Monday. I really want a piece of greasy cheese pizza but so far have settled for Chicken Noodle soup and Ramen noodles. My mouth is still hurting a bit so hopefully by this weekend will be good to eat some regular food.

Stamp Set: Rock Star Anya, Mini Mates by Stampin'Up!
Cardstock: Rose Red, Cool Carribean, Basic Black, Basic Grey Urban Prairie
Accessories: Nestabilities and Copic Markers

Upsy Daisy Sympathy

This is the last of the sympathy cards I've created and it was inspired by this card by Leslie Moore. I really loved the simple layout and the way she used Upsy Daisy. I challenged myself to use just one color (okay I tipped the flowers with Ballet Blue) for the flowers instead of feeling like I needed to color the flowers and stems.

I loved the sample I saw of Cindy Haffner's where she tied the twine to hold the ribbon. Very cute!! I had to try it and although hers looks much more eloquent (she tied the twine in bows), I love the look of it!

Thanks for peeking!

Card Details:
Stamp Sets: Upsy Daisy by Stampin' Up!, Mixed Messages by PTI
Cardstock: Really Rust, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Blue and plaid unknown
Inks: Bashful Blue, Ballet Blue, Really Rust
Accessories: Hemp twine, Hodgepodge Hardware, Bashful Blue Ribbon, Spiral punch

Happy Valentine's Day/Birthday Honey!

I went crazy the other night, stayed up until after midnight AND stamped some Valentine's cards. My girlfriend had given me a few Valentine's kits that she had from when she worked at at stamp/scrapbook store and I decided to put them to use. I make about 5-6 cards with some leftover scra
ps. I'll just share a few.

This one is one of my favorites using Eastern Blooms. I was so frusterated with my sewing and screwed up, hence the flowers covering my screw up on the right hand side of the card. I used the SCS SC215 for this card, although I made it longer that it's supposed to be. Lots of layers and vibrant colors with some liquid pearls on the inside of the flower.

Here's another I like a lot, using Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch#73. I used the Bodacious Bouquet set with So Many Sayings. The charm in the right was sewn on by hand and I put a piece of red cardstock behind it instead of leaving it open.

A few more pretty simple ones I created, easy to put together.

Have to give a big SHOUT OUT to my hubby. Today is his birthday!!!

Enjoy the cards and hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Cards use Bo Bunny Heart Throb strop, Heart Throb, Sweet Nothings, Forget me Knots, Heart Attack and Bazzill Raven, White and Black.

Blogger's Challenge 86: Valentine's

Our challenge this week was Valentine. While Valentine's in my house takes on a whole new meaning, we don't do a lot of celebrating of Valentine's Day...it's hubby's birthday instead. Do you know how hard it is to find a birthday/Valentine's Day card in one??? So I decided to make my own this year, saves me on a little money. I used the CTD29 colors this week using Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip & Regal Rose. I also broke out a stamp set I have had for about 8-9 months and never inked up. Thought it would be a perfect Valentine's stamp.

I had this big night out planned for him with some friends, going to a hockey game. Unfortunately for us, our oldest son is in a baseball tournament this weekend and of course they scheduled us for a late evening game so we had to scratch our plans. We still are going to try to do a late dinner and maybe a movie. Have to play it by ear.

Join us in the challenge this week, show us what you come up with using keyword BC86 on SCS or linking a post on any of participants blogs. Make sure to see all the other creations to the right ----> under the Blogger's Challenge logo.

Card Details:
Stamps: Ollie & Olivia by Stampendous, Simple Sayings by Stampin' Up! (heart- outlined with black)
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, PTI White
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, Versafine Onyx Black, Aquapainter, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Stickles, rectangle nesties, label nesties, chocolate chip ribbon, script CB folder, Copic C1, sentiment printed on computer using SU Fonts

I Stink You're Sweet

I have barely used my Pun Fun set and thought this would be the perfect set for a simple card. I used the TUESTCP45 color challenge (Dark Gray, Red, Pink and Black) combined with the FTL27 Sketch Challenge. I decided to go super simple on this card with just some layers.

I have been having so much fun stamping the last few days and have accomplished about 10 cards. Now if I could keep my eyes open past 10 p.m. and really get motivated to do something other than cards, some alterables would be great.

Card details:
Stamp Sets: Pun Fun by Stampin'Up
Cardstock: Going Gray, Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Basic Black, Whisper White
Inks: Pretty in Pink, Basic Black, Aquapainter
Accessories: Swiss Dots CB Folder, Square and Scalloped Nestabilities, Heidi Swapp pink jewels, Ribbon unknown

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #56

I got to sit down last night for a little bit and make a few cards based on Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. I had cheated and seen MJ's card before I started my own and had the same idea as her for the the 3 little panels below so I tried to change it up a bit.

This was meant to be a very simple card that I need to get mailed off my to my cousin's and Uncle who lost their dear mother/wife yesterday. My Aunt was my Dad's last family member and she was also my Godmother who was so special. While I didn't get to see her often and in the last few years had not communicated with her the way I used to (we used to mail letters to each other and talk) I hope that she knows how much she was loved and how much she will be missed.

Join us in Mary Jo's sketch challenge this week by posting up to her Mr. Linky. Would love to see your creations!

Card Details:
Stamp Sets: Priceless by SU!, Mixed Messages by PTI
Cardstock: Basic Grey Urban Couture "Silk", Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red and lavendar textured unknown
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, Almost Amethyst
Accessories: Oval punch, mini rhinestones

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Unfortunately this weekend I was in need of a sympathy card, actually I need 3 of them. We just learned this afternoon that my Aunt passed away (my Godmother) after a brain hemmorhage last night. Very sad for our family.

I decided to finish the card I started Friday night and added the sentiment on to it. I used Nichole Heady's Dot to Dot Challenge and although I didn't get it completed in time to enter the challenge I still enjoyed working on the sketch.

Hoping to squeeze out another card this evening for Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge tomorrow.

Card details:
Stamp Sets: Happy Harmony, Small Sayings
Cardstock: Crate Paper, Birdie Collection "Chickadee", Papertrey Ink. white
Inks: Apricot Appeal, Basic Brown, Cool Carribean
Accessories: Janome sewing machine, Ice Stickles, Earth Elements & Neutrals buttons
