Spiral Whisper meets Basic Grey

This is another of the cards I created with my new digital download from Spiral Whisper called Flourishing Flowers. This was actually the first image I colored but then I struggled with matching it with some cardstock. This went out to a friend today as part of a "contraband" swap I participated in using non-SU stamps. I added some jewels to the flowers which you can't see in some of the pictures, but can a little better on the close up. I know my friend is peeking at this, so hope it's much prettier in person ;-) I also followed this sketch for this card.

I had a very productive stamp weekend and will be showcasing some more ATC's turned in to full cards. I only have a handful more to complete but was side-tracked last night when my computer crashed on me. I'm having to send it in for repairs. Thankfully hubby has a few spares for me to work on while mines in the shop although all my files are bye bye for now...hoping they will be recoverable. If not, I will learn next time to BACK UP! Thank God I had written down all my info on the cards I had including the sketches I followed!

Card details:
Stamp Sets: Flourishing Flowers by Spiral Whisper, Papertreyink sentiment
Cardstock: Rose Romance, Basic Grey Phoebe papers
Ink: Printer and copics, white craft
Accessories: nestabilities, Heidi Swapp jewels

Monday Technostamper's Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #63

I'm impressed with myself. I actually finished this card a few days early :-)

This weeks Technostamper's Lunchtime Sketch Challenge was a relatively easy one. Unfortunately, it took me FOREVER to do this card between chatting on facebook, coloring the image and then struggling over what paper to pair it with.

The image is a digital image from Spiral Whisper called Flourishing Flowers. I really like the variety of flowers with this set and they were a lot of fun to color. I have another card using a different image of this set to post as well.

Make sure to check out Mary Jo's blog and join us in her weekly sketch challenge.

Card details:
Images: Flourishing Flowers by Spiral Whisper
Cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, SEI Paisley & Petals Polka Party DSP (orange is back side)
Inks: Printer, Copics
Accessories: copics, gold brads, 1/4" circle punch

Sunday, March 29, 2009

This weekend I have been busy mounting my Amuse ATC swap's onto full cards. I've had these cards for well over a year, but don't tend to use them too much. I mounted one of my ATC's using Mary Jo's Technostamper's Lunchtime Sketch Challenge *here* and decided to continue with putting my ATC's onto full cards.

Last week I started by matching up some designer paper with the ATC's (all from my scrap pile). I then went through my sketch folder and saved a few sketches that I could repeat using with the ATC's. It was amazing how quickly they came together. I'm hoping this week to showcase some different ones after I receive permission from the creators.

So, to start off this weeks, it's the adorable ATC card, Meow from Adair Svoboda. You can also see Adair's work here at her SCS gallery. Adair and I are on a few different groups together and she does fabulous cards! I absolutely love everything about this ATC, especially the bright colors she chose and how she mounted the little kitty up.

I continued with these bright colors using Summer Sun and black. I love how this color looks on black and wonder why I don't use it more than I do. I'm going off the top of my head, but I think the pattered paper is from the Summer Picnic paper pack, but not positive of that.

I used a loose sketch of Julee's Mojo Monday #37 sketch. I left off the little ribbon tags as I didn't think it worked with this.

Twisted Thursday Challenge #3

I started this card last week but never got around to finishing it as I got sick and tried to stay out of the stamp room and get myself better. Unfortunately, I'm still hacking away and pretty hoarse, but feeling much better!

This image was a free download last week for Shirley's 2 Girls Twisted Thursday Challenge. Being the blonde that I am...I didn't even pay attention there was a sketch to follow. I did add hardware which was the *twist* so oh well! I still had fun using the digital image and pulling some more paper out of my stash to use.

Card details:
Stamp sets: Digital Image by Shirleys 2 Girls, sentiment from Studio G
Cardstock: Bordering Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, SEI Beatnik Pants & Boy Mini Dots
Inks: Copics & Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Pumpkin Pie Ribbon, Scallop punch, hardware unknown

Color Challenge by Libby/Use It Challenge #3

Last night I was stumped with colors to use. I've been in a stamping rut, always in a sketch rut and last night was in a color rut. My friend Libby threw out the challenge to use Real Red, Chocolate Chip and Eggplant Envy. I mean, really Libby????

Well, being that it was a challenge, I decided to go with it. And Libby decided to give her color scheme a try to so make sure to check hers out as well. I struggled for hours, literally staying up until well after midnight (late for me) trying to finish this. I came oh so close before giving up and calling it a night, hoping to finish the last touch this morning.

I also decided to combine this with Use It Challenge #3 issued by Heidi Van Laar:

***USE IT! challenge no.3***
***
So my challenge is all about digging deep into that stash!
***
- Use some eyelets. (I only used one)
***
-Use something more that 1 year old.(Au Chocolate paper & primas)
***
- And just for fun, use something with polka dots! (Eggplant strip with cuttlebug embossing folder Swiss Dots)

I pulled out some old Au Chocolate Designer Paper and brayered some real red and eggplant envy on it. I wasn't thrilled with it, but after looking at it, I was going to make it work. My little Quasimoto from Stampotique was colored using my Aquapainter and reinkers. Every time I see this little image I imagine him/her as a little seed sprouting from dirt with the little leaves on his/her head so I decided that was how I was going to color it this time.

I forgot how much fun I used to have using eyelets. I have SO many of them, and need to use them up. I really liked how the primas looked with the eyelet in the middle versus my normal use of a brad there. I even did the inside a little using another one of my favorites from Stampotique- Well, la de frickin da!

Can't wait to see what Libby comes up with using this god awful color combination which just kept on reminding me of the Red Hat Society!!! And if you want to join in with us, please do! We'd love to see what you create using this color combination or the Use It! Challenge.

Card details:
Stamps: Stampotique
Cardstock: Brown unknown, Au Chocolat designer paper, Real Red, Eggplant Envy, PTI White
Inks: same as cardstock
Accessories: square & scallop nestabilities, primas, metallic eyelets, brayer, aquapainter

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #62

Okay, this was my quick attempt at Mary Jo's sketch this week. I was NOT feeling creative when making it but wanted to use these cute images I received last week from Karrie Baker.

Thought they would make the perfect anniversary card for my parents. It's their 40th anniversary and I'm really at a loss for what to get them. Any suggestions???

Card details:
Stamps: Karrie's Sally Owl & Karrie's Casey Cowboy Owl by Odd Bird Planet, Mixed Messages by PTI
Cardstock: Baroque Burgundy, Whisper White, Designer Paper by Stampin' Up!
Inks: Memento and Copics
Accessories: Circle & Scallop punches

PSA: Teen Dating Violence

This is a picture of my friends and I at our Junior Prom. Jenny is the beautiful redhead in the middle in the emerald dress. She was killed at the hands of her former boyfriend in 1994. This article was in the weekend newspaper where I used to live.

http://www.contracostatimes.com/search/ci_11967025?IADID=Search-www.contracostatimes.com-www.contracostatimes

After reading the article, I encourage you to write on Jenny's behalf to lobby to have Tommy's parole denied. This man does NOT need to be out of jail!

Jenny's website with parole letter information:

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope that you will join me, even if you don't know Jenny, to encourage the parole board NOT to parole her killer.

Sweet Sunday Sketch- Baseball Ian

I did a quick card using one of the new Ian images (digital) that I got from The Greeting Farm. I absolutely fell in love with this Ian, believe it or not, the first Ian I've purchased. I was already in love with Anya and love seeing the Ian creations. You would think with 2 boys I would HAVE to have it, not sure why I never bought it.

I love Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketches and chose to use this although my circle is a lot larger on my card that on her sketch. I of course used Kristina Werner's color inspiration again with this card.

My oldest plays travel ball and I knew as soon as I saw this one that a card would be perfect. I colored this guy with the team colors and the logo I cut out after printing it out on the computer. The little "Go Raiders" was done using my Stamp Rite stamps. I don't know about anyone else that own these but whether I use tweezers for the letters or not, they take FOREVER to put on there. Doesn't help that my nails have broke so I'm working with stubs :-)

It's very hard to tell but the little black strip was run through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder.

Have a good one! I *love* baseball season!

Use It Challenge #2

This week here were the guidelines to our card and what to use up:
Copied from the Use It! blog
this week our challenge comes from last week's winner,
danni {dannisdoodles}!!

******************************************
Here is danni's challenge:

i am thinking "spring" . dreaming of warmer weather & flowers,
hence my challenge was born :)

•use spring colors on your card
•use 4 flowers

******************************************
I also combined this with one of my favorites this week, From Courtney's Closet Challenge...check her out, isn't she adorable in her little princess outfit? You can never have too many girl cards IMO.

Hope you enjoy this card, I broke out some of my hundreds of primas, a stamp set that very rarely sees the light of day and some chipboard tags that were barely even opened.

Card details:
Stamp Set: Once Upon a Time- Lizzie Anne Designs
Cardstock: Whisper White, patterned paper from stamp block I've had for about 5 or more years (no kidding)
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, White Craft Ink, Regal Rose (sponge the tag)
Accessories: Copics, Primas, Heidi Swapp jewels, retired SU! ribbon, On Board Accent Chipboard Tag

Easter Wishes

This was a very quick card to come together. Normally I don't make holiday cards, but my friend Kristen sent me some awesome High Hopes images that I *love* coloring! So off I was to make a card.

I started this card with Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch from awhile ago but didn't end up following it in the end. It gave me a great start though!

Card details:
Stamp: High Hopes
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, SU! Patterned Paper
Accessories: Nestabilities squares, Copics

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge

This week I took the easy way out and killed 2 birds with one stone. You see, almost 2 years ago I participated in an AMuse ATC swap. I've had about 20 ATC cards, as adorable as you can imagine, sitting around and have been wanting to convert them into full cards. I have yet to do it.

So, when I saw Mary Jo's sketch challenge for this week, I thought PERFECT sketch for my ATC's. I chose to do my ATC into a full card, but think this sketch would work for more than one of the ATC's I have on hand so I will definitely be going back to it! I searched SCS for a good color combo based on the Sahara Sand I had already used and Blue Bayou and Chocolate Chip worked awesome (CC127).

This card came together so quick and I'm so happy about that! Sometimes I really struggle with the card and this time I chose to use solid layers instead of searching for the perfect patterned cardstock although I know I have some that would work well with this card.

Make sure to check out Mary Jo's blog and join us with your card based on her sketch! I love to see what everyone comes up with.

Card details:
Stamps: AMuse, PapertreyInk "Hi There" sentiment
Cardstock: Vellum, Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Blue Bayou, Chocolate Chip
Inks: Black Staz On, Yo Yo Yellow, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Gold Brads, Corkboard, Lumiere, Pearl-Ex, Oval Nestabilities, Scallop punch
You can't really tell in the picture but I colored the palm tree leaves with lumiere and Pearl-Ex, the base of the tree with a SU! Marker. The sun was made by cutting a square and then punching the "sun" shape out of it with a circle punch. I used this as my template when I sponged on the color.

Inky Impressions 1st Design Team Call

Inky Impressions is having a Design Team Call and I thought I might give it a go. The first card has been posted to my blog which you can see the details here.

The next card I created using one of the images Kristen sent me. I love these High Hopes images as they are so much fun to color in. I normally am really BAD at making any holiday cards, but I've made a few Easter cards this year. I created this card based on Amy's sketch and only after I finished did I realize her circles were cock-eyed and not perfectly in the center...oh well...it's about the creativity!

Card details:
Stamps: Posing Bunny by High Hopes
Cardstock: Regal Rose, Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Basic Grey Phasion & Phlirty
Inks: Copics
Accessories: Circle Nestabilities, Silver Brads, 3/4" circle punch

Etsy Inspired Card

This week the challenge issued on one of my yahoo groups was to pick out an inspiration piece at this etsy store: Joom I loved all the pieces in this store but had a hard time picking out a Stampin' Up! set that would work well with it. Finally, after talking to our host Stefanie I had an idea. Well, the first idea didn't work, I got frustrated and scrapped it (I have since gotten the inspiration I needed to finish it so that will be later).

I decided to draw from the colors in this gorgeous pillow. I absolutely LOVE these colors together!!! Hoping my partner likes this card.

I did do some paper piercing in the top right corner but it was hard to photo. I also finally got my bow tying down using the twine that I have seen on so many blogs lately and admired how well it looked on the card.

Card details:
Stamp set: Baroque Motifs, Simply Said
Cardstock: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze
Inks: Same as above
Accesories: Rhinestone Ice circle Brads, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, dog tag punch, twine, Chocolate Ribbon

You're Glamorous!

This week I received some goodies that I had won from Clear & Simple Stamps- Glamour Darling I couldn't wait to break them open and stamp with them but had to wait for the work day to end.

That night I got up some energy to come down and stamp, think I did 3 cards, but am ambitious and really want to do more, plus I have some projects I need to work on and get in the mail.

As soon as I saw Kerry's challenge this week, using the cake above as inspiration, I knew what paper I wanted to use and what set. I I love these bright, vibrant colors and I've about used all of this paper up now.

Hope you enjoy seeing the new stamps from Clear & Simple Stamps and join in Kerry's challenge this week, would love to see what you create.

Card details:
Stamp Set: Glamour Darling- Clear & Simple Stamps
Cardstock: Green Galore, Only Orange, Real Red, Pink Passion, Patterned paper SU
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics
Accessories: Red Brads, Cuttlebug

BC90- Texture

This was one of the easiest Blogger's Challenge I've done. We were to use texture- I turned to one of my favorites, cuttlebug embossing folder. I chose to do a really simple card as it is an anniversary card for my brother and sister-in-law. I also chose to use Kristina's Color Inspiration (Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White).

I have been feeling creatively challenged lately. I'm inspired, this card was inspired by Natasha's card. I *want* to stamp, I just can't seem to get going. I did create a few cards last night so I'm happy about that, just wish I was able to do more than one card at a time, and that I will be working on this weekend.

Make sure to check out all the other ladies' work by clicking here.

Card details:
Stamp Set: Eastern Blooms
Cardstock: Going Gray, Basic Black, Whisper White
Inks: Basic Black, Going Gray
Accessories: Script cuttlebug embossing folder, ribbon unknown

Happy Birthday Butter!

My husband actually asked me to make him a card for a friend. Actually he said don't you have a card you can send out to Butter? I said, do you want me to make him one? Sure, that's be great...so here's what I came up with. I know he likes to golf and I tried to find some masculine colors and just love these so hope he likes it!

I'm too lazy to type up the deets today but the image is an old one from CTMH.

Thanks for checking it out!

ETA: Oops, got a little too finger happy and hit send too soon. Wanted it to post tomorrow but Oh well!

Use It Challenge #1

Rae has started a new challenge which I was all on board for. I gave it a go this week and plan to continue whenever I have time, great way for me to dig in to some things I haven't used.
The concept of Use It! challenges:
Create, create, create
while using supplies that you already have on hand~
scraps, 'older' products, products that you've been hoarding,
products you forgot you had purchased,
bits & pieces of whatever you have laying around
that you've 'thought about' using,
but never got around to actually using it.

I found a stamp that has never seen ink from Stampendous along with
some paper I purchased at least 3 years ago before my daughter was born. I don't know why I never used it as I love the colors in it. The buttons I don't use too much, but I am trying to break out things that have been sitting around and thing this challenge will help me.

I also came across the Bellarific Challenge for this week which was to use some of these colors & a button. I know I didn't use Bella stamps (hey, all of those have seen ink) but think this still meets the color criteria. I pulled out one of Mary Jo's old Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge which worked perfect with the image I had picked out.

Card details:
Stamp: Tiny Bloom from Stampendous
Cardstock: Kraft, Soft Sky, Certainly Celery, K & Co. Studio K Meadow Polka Dot Embossed Paper, neutral unknown
Inks: Copics & Memento Black
Accessories:
Cream Organdy Ribbon, twine, soft subtles buttons, nestabilities

Hope you join in the Use It Challenge and make sure to click on the link above to share with us your creation!

I "won" a homemade gift by leaving one of the first 5 comments on
Debbie's blog, now I'll see who my first 5 are. The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year. (I will want to get it done ASAP so it should be within a month or so!)
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. I have tons of ideas, but who knows what it will be? Not you, that's for sure!
5-The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog! (then come here and post, I WILL check your blog *wink*)

The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a homemade gift by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!

So....who will be the first 5 people?????

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #60

Of course I have to be DIFFERENT, I had to turn Mary Jo's sketch and it was NOT an easy one for me. I've struggled with the image to use, but finally found one that worked. 3rd time is a charm!

I pulled out my Patterned Birds & Bugs by Inkadinkado and the color challenge from Kristina Werner from a from last week. I loved all the creations everyone came up with using these colors, they were gorgeous!

I did some paper piercing on this (freehand) and of course had to use some nestabilities and some of those primas I seem to hoard all the time.

Join us in MJ's challenge and post to Mr. Linky on her site or to SCS using keyword TSSC60
