Blogger Challenge, Week #32

This week our challenge was to use the layout on the front cover of the SAB catalog (Happy Birthday card). I knew what set I wanted to use and I used a lot of ideas from Annieht on SCS with the set I wanted to use. She had a great look to her card using the paper piecing.

Unfortunately I had to make another sympathy card for a friend who's father just passed away. It was not only sad for her but for our family as well as he was my in-laws lifelong friends and my hubby grew up with them. Since hubby and I have been married, I have become good friends with their daughter so my heart broke when I heard the news of her father passing. I'm glad that she was able to get back out to see him and spend some time with him just shortly before this happened.

Make sure to click on the Bloggers Challenge logo the right on my blog for the other participants. The talented group of participants is growing. If you would like to post a link to your card and participate, please post it in the comments section below.

Blogger Challenge, Week #31

Wow! It's unbelievable that we have been doing this for 31 weeks now.

This week our challenge was to use the layout on p. 141 of the Spring/Summer Catalog (the "welcome baby" layout). You'll have to excuse my use of another baby set/card as I'm still doing thank you's as gifts are still arriving and I keep running out. I also combined this weeks color challenge on SCS using Blue Bayou, Soft Sky and Real Red. Perfect for little boy thank yous!

I had this idea to use a picture of the little one's feet on my thank you card. It took me a few tries to get it to work as I wanted to use a bigger picture but am happy with the way it turned out in the end. I actually did 2 cards, one using a different image for the focal point.

Make sure you check out all the other blogger's who participate as the work is phenomenal and I'm always so suprised at how different all of our samples turn out.
Stamp Sets: Bundle of Joy, Absolutely Fabulous, Wonderful Words, Zoofari
Cardstock: Fabriano Cream, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Real Red
Inks: Same as above
Accessories: Stickles Silver, Silver Brads, Aquapainters, Scallop Punch, Circle Punches

Yummy Recipe...Cherry Chocolate Cheesecake

Okay, like every other year my New Year's Resolution is to get in shape and lose weight. Last year I started off with a bang and had lost 10 lbs. doing weight watchers before I discovered I was pregnant. Of course I had to indulge in all those pregnancy cravings and packed on 26 lbs. with this last pregnancy. I'm 7 lbs. shy now of my pre-pregnancy weight, but I could stand to lose a lot more so we (hubby and I) will be starting weight watchers again.

However, I saw this dessert over the holidays that I knew I had to make. I made it the other day to take to the office staff at my Dr's appt. when I went in for my 6 week appt. They were awesome throughout my pregnancy and considering I was in twice a week for several months I got to know them all well (besides it being my 2nd high risk pregnancy and they were all there for the last one as well). I then made one at home for us, but forgot that I had it in the oven and overcooked the cheesecake. We tasted it (crappy) so I bought the stuff to make it again.

Weight Watchers will have to "weight" until next week. The recipe for the Cherry Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake can be found here. I also wish I had taken a picture of it before I put it in the container, but the crust part is the brownie and there is cherry in between the cheesecake and brownie crust as well.

Hopefully when I make it tomorrow I won't forget it's in the oven!

Bloggers Challenge: Week 28 Pink and Brown

I haven't posted this to my blog before so I hope that a recycled item will fulfill todays challenge. I do hope to do something this weekend for this challenge that is new, but I did want to post something today as well.

This is a name frame that I was commissioned to do last year, and I did about 3 of them that were all pink and brown. This one was challenging for me as I had a different size and layout requested. I had fun doing it and was thrilled how it turned out. It's been a year since I completed it so I apologize that I do not recall all the supplies used.
Stamp Sets: Pick a Petal, Bundle of Joy, CTMH Giggle Caps, Doodle That, several others for backgrounds of each letter which are difficult to see
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Brads, Primas, Hodgepodge hardward
