Monday Technostamper Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #107

Mary Jo's sketch this week sure gave me a run for my money.  I think it took me all day to come up with my card, and I'm still not really sure I like it a whole lot, but I finished it :-)

This card uses 2 new set to be released tomorrow by Clear & Simple Stamps.  I love each of them, they are perfect for Valentine's Day.

I made the envelope using one of the templates on Val Stangle's site for Scor-Pal.  Can I tell you that one of the things I wanted to most at CHA was the new Scor-Buddy.  It's sized for the cardmakers and is too cute!  I'll give you a sneak peek of it as well as the details of it. (click for a larger view)

Hope you will join us for Mary Jo's Monday Technostamper Sketch Challenge.

Blogger's Challenge #136: Birthdays

This has been a whirlwind week, but I got a few minutes to come down and stamp a card I had in mind for this weeks blogger's challenge theme which was birthday.

At CHA I had so much fun seeing stamp sets that I peruse online.  Seeing them in person makes it so much different.  Working at the Clear & Simple Stamps booth was NOT good for me as I saw quite a few sets I had to have!!!  I fell in love as soon as I saw this stamp set, and even though it is not on the website yet, it will be very soon.  The possibilities are endless!!!

I wanted to accent my card with this cool flower we made at the Couture Cardstock booth.  It's made out of heart punches, a brad in the middle & then you unfold them so that it looks like a flower.  I thought it would be perfect with this stamp set.  I picked some colors that are NOT normal for me to use, but I had gotten some Purpilicious ribbon at the CSS booth as well and thought it would look great with the yellow...and I love how it turned out.

Hope you enjoy this card, and make sure to check out all the other wonderful creations here.  And keep your eyes open on Monday for the new stamp of the month from Clear & Simple Stamps.

Card details:
Stamp Set:  Fancy Wishes from Clear & Simple Stamps
Inks:  Eggplant Envy
Cardstock:  Eggplant Envy, So Saffron, Whisper White, Couture Cardstock

I can't figure out how to copy the random generator thing, but it chose #5 which is:

CHA Anaheim Recap

I have been on information overload the last few days!!!  It has been such an exciting time as I attend my first CHA in Anaheim, CA.  I flew in on Thursday afternoon & met up with Sara Henton to ride the shuttle over to the Convention Center.  I immediately went to the Clear & Simple Stamps booth and started helping the girls get the booth ready for the Supershow the following day.  I arrived back at the hotel where I met up with my great friends Kerry Donovan-Casey and Kristen Catalano.  I laughed til' I could laugh no more than night!

The first day of the Supershow was a little slower than we expected, but most of the time there was a steady flow of customers moving through the booth.  I did the 2nd make and take of the day where we created teabag/matchbook cards.  I will have to share it another day as I didn't even take a picture of it.  I spent a little money while I was walking around the first day.

Here's a picture of the Clear & Simple Stamps booth in progress.

The second day of the Supershow was a whirlwind!  It was busy from the moment the doors opened until doors closed.  I shopped most of the 2nd day as we had some extra help at the CSS booth.  I had a lot of fun!!!  I went out to dinner with a bunch of friends that night at the Cheesecake Factory, which I laughed so much again.  Charlotte Brown, Pat Huntoon, Lisa Somerville, Rose Kerry, Connie Ingram, Suzanne J. Dean, Gerrie Johnnic, Kristen Catalano, Kerry Donovan-Casey & I had a blast!

Today we started the first day of the Tradeshow.  I have been fortunate to get to walk around and see all the new products being released.  Here are few of my favorites:

The CSS Tradeshow booth...and the new Iphone App which you can read more about here at the Embellish Magazine Blog, it's a one of a kind application, which I can't wait to get!

Some yummy May Arts Ribbon

How about some of my favorites-Basic Grey?

For my buddy Libby-some Hero Arts goodies.

And, for some of you, this may be an easy guess, but how about this celebrity?  Can you guess who it is?
I may have some blog candy for you when I return home if you can guess correctly.  Let me know who you think it is before I return home Tuesday evening, I'll draw a name on Wednesday morning.

ETA:  The blog candy has been closed.

Pink Elephant Challenge #50 featuring Balla-Weensie

I sat down last night for a few minutes and stamped.  I needed the break badly.  Yesterday was MLK day, which in our town, is a holiday for the schools.  That means daycare was closed as well.  Problem was, it's not a holiday for me at work so I was working while trying to take care of the kids.  It was hectic, and I was able to do a little work, but not as much as I needed to.  Luckily after hubby got settled in when he got home, I quietly escaped down into the basement.  I worked for a bit, then I stamped a little.  I have the utmost respect for those who homeschool their children or are stay-at-home Mom's.  I say that I could never be one, I'm so used to working, but I'm sure if it came down to it, it would be different when I wasn't working.

Call me crazy, as this card is definitely not one of my best...and the color scheme...what was I thinking?  Once I uploaded this card and looked at it, I realized my color is way off.  Oh well, I'm not going to fix it. I also decided to go a little different and go with a curved middle as that is the way my paper patterned paper was.

This card was created for the Pink Elephant Challenge in which Stampotique is sponsoring.  Make sure you take a look at the cards, there are some awesome ones this week using the Stampotique stamps!!!

Card details:
Stamp:  Lockhart #10041, Balla Weensie by Stampotique

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #105

This week is a very easy sketch from Mary Jo and I just realized now when I uploaded it that I misplaced my sentiment.  Oh well!  Card is done and about to be posted so I'm going to call it good to go.

I literally threw this card together in a matter of minutes using scraps I had in my scrap bin.  I combined it with a few other challenges this week that I wanted to participate in.  The first one was one of my favorite color combinations TCPTUES92 with chocolate, kraft & ligth blue.  The other challenge is brand new one two of my online stamp buddies, Allison & Sue are doing, the Everything Old is New Again.  This was EASY as there are a ton of stamps of mine that have either never seen the light of day, or haven't seen it in a long time.

I have 4 more days until I venture out to CHA to help Clear & Simple Stamps.  I'm so excited to meet Reenee & Nicki (the owners) as well as several members of the design team.  If you missed them on blog radio today you can check out At Home with Victoria, she has podcasts that you can download & replay.  It was a great show and I'll definitely tune into her again.

Card details:
Stamp Set:  Kim Hughes' Baby Love, Yappy from The Cat's Pajamas
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze
Cardstock: Kraft, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, retired SU! Parisian Breeze dsp
Accessories: Choco Chip grosgrain ribbon

COLOR CHALLENGE:
The color combination is purple, kraft, and brown and we are using it along with the design element of stripes, which can be added through patterned paper, ribbon, stamping, etc.  Use the above picture as inspiration if you like.

I had a good time with this challenge.  I'm not a HUGE purple lover, but I do love the paper that was created for this challenge which is available on the Embellish Magazine blog.

Can't wait to see what everyone creates for this challenge and how different they all turn out.  Make sure to stop by and visit Clear & Simple Stamps at CHA (booth #659).  I will be helping out with the make 'n' takes and wandering the floor at other times.  I can't wait so make sure you see me, stop and say "hi"!

Blogger's Challenge #134: Pink, Brown, White

This week our list Mom challenged us to use pink, brown & white.  We just got done painting my daughter's room in pinks so I've had some paint swatches laying around and wanted to put them to use. I did use a little bit darker than the "normal" pink but it worked well with the paint swatch.  I combined this with a challenge on my other group for a rock 'n' roll technique.

ETA: I started this sentence last night and this morning remembered I never finished writing it.  LOL-TGIF
Can I just say I was so thrilled when I saw Dawn McVey's tutorial on how she ties her bows!  I've used it several times now and one of these days I'll be able to tie one of "her bows" without watching the tutorial.

I'm getting so excited as I will be going to CHA next week and meeting up with our list Mom, Lisa...can't wait to see her again, along with a lot of my other stamp buddies!!!  I'm bursting at the seams with so much excitement to see all the new products, meet some stamping idols, catching up with friends, etc.

Make sure that you check out the other blogger's here for their creations.

Memory Keeper/Recipe Box

This Memory Keeper template & tutorial by Gina K couldn't have come at a more perfect time.  For round 2 of the Queen Kat Designs I needed to make an altered item.  Gina K has such a great tutorial and I came up with the idea to make this into a Recipe Box instead of the Memory Keeper.  I love to try new recipes and I thought it would make a great gift to give someone a few of my favorite recipes in this box.

I combined some scraps of My Mind's Eye Wild Asparagus with some of my Orange You Fabulous cardstock & ribbon (I'm in LOVE with the ribbon) from Clear & Simple Stamps.  The owl cardstock is some digital paper from Little Dreamer Designs (Flittery Page Kit).

This is the photo of the inside of the Memory Keeper box and although I didn't fix a recipe card to go in it, I can't wait to get some done.  I also included a pic of the back of the box, which I did a different paper on.the back as I had run out of my Wild Asparagus scraps.

I topped the recipe box off with a cute ATC I made and used an Odd Bird Planet stamp and created the sentiment with my Just Rite stamp set.

I hope that everyone enjoys my creation!  If you get a chance, try Gina K's tutorial, it's AWESOME!!!

Recipe Box/Memory Keeper's Box::
Stamp Set:  Karrie's Sally Owl, Just Rite Stamps
Cardstock: A Blanc Check, Orange You Fabulous, Flittery Page Kit by Little Dreamer Designs, My Mind's Eye Wild Asparagus
Accessories: Orange Ribbon, Scalloped Oval & Oval Nesatbilities

Going on to Round 2

The other night while chatting with Vicki Douglas, Ms. Queen Kat herself from Queen Kat Designs asked me if I was going to enter her contest.  I had forgotten about it as I was on vacation when the call was made and I didn't have any stamp supplies with me.  So, I still had time and threw in 2 of my favorite cards.  I was fortunate enough to make it into the 2nd round so here I go :-)

We were asked to make a card and an altered item.  I got my card done and am still thinking on my altered item but hope by the end of the week to have that done.

I picked out Rock Star Anya from The Greeting Farm to practice my coloring on.  I've been realizing that I don't have a lot of bold open faced stamps to really do a large amount of coloring with.  Don't get me wrong, I love the ones I have to color with, just need to keep in mind when shopping that I might want some larger stamps.

I combined this card with one of QKD sketch challenges and took a few liberties with it.  First, I rotated the sketch 90 degrees to the left..  I decided instead of corner rivet I would do a prima with rhinestone but added it to Anya's headband.  I also did not do random stamping on my one strip (and the paper is embossed, I can only dream my embossing looks that good!)

Visit the Queen Kat Designs website and give me a shout out and show me some support.  You can see all the ladies work who are in the 2nd round here in the Mr. Linky section.  I've got tough competition!

Card details:
Stamp Set:  Rockstar Anya, Technique Tuesday "Gee Whiz"
Cardstock: Basic Black, Stamper's Select, SEI Black Orchid Paper
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics (sorry, I put them away without snapping pics)
Accessories:  Prima colored with Black copic, Rhinestone Brads Fire Circles

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #104

It has been a busy weekend here!  We spent Friday having a "snow" day from school, so we had the kids at home bouncing off the walls.  I mean, we went back to school on Tuesday from Winter break, they had early release on Thursday due to the weather forecast and then Friday they were off.

My little girl is turning 4 in a few weeks and we've had her in the same room/decorations since she was born.  It was a nursery them and fit since the little guy was in there with her up until August but now she was needing something a little more "girly".  Hubby started priming and painting and he hopes to finish it up tonight.  I've been "manning" the kids, doing a zillion loads of laundry while he's been busy.

I was stumped with Mary Jo's sketch this week, I only have 1-2 stamps that are long like the sketch called for.  I had to improvise a little by turning the sketch but think it turned out ok.  I love this image from Clear and Simple Stamps and the sentiments that go with it.

I have a few friends that needed some "Get Well" cards and I think Beary Well has so many cute little phrases that you could use it for anyone.    I even finished the inside of my cards, which I don't do too often, but I love seeing what everyone does with the insides of their cards.  (sorry my color is horrible, sometimes I have difficulty photo'ing in my photo box...guess I need to learn much more about my camera)

card details:
Stamp Set:  Beary Well from Clear and Simple Stamps
Cardstock:  Spring Rain and Stamper's Select from PTI, Offbeat from Basic Grey, Chocolate Chip from SU!
Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa, Copics (see colors below)
Accessories:  EK Success punch (very old), SU! brads, 1 3/8" circle punch, scalloped circle punch

Are you going to CHA this year?  If you are make sure to stop by the Clear and Simple Stamps booth #659 and say "hi".  I will be helping with some make 'n' takes.  Also, on 1/17 Clear and Simple Stamps will be on Blog Radio, tune in to learn more about this awesome company!

Blogger's Challenge #133: Sketch

This is the sketch we were to use this week for our blogger's challenge card.  This sketch lends itself to many ideas, a very simple sketch that I know I will go back to.  It was also a great sketch to use up some scraps I had in my scrap bin.

The two strips were pulled out of my scrap bin along with the green card front.  I had several of these for a swap that I never got around to using so I made a few cards last night with them.

Card details:
Stamp Set:  Thankful Flourishes by Our Craft Lounge, Thank You Limited Edition set from Clear & Simple Stamps
Cardstock:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, My Mind's Eye "Girl" Stripe/Lime Paper,
strips from scrap bin
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics to color
Accessories:  Designer Mix Brads from Clear & Simple Stamps, paper piercer
