BC404: Cheers to You

Today's blogger's challenge theme is "Cheers to You".  This was a card I created with good friends in mind-so cheers to those that are always there for us and are amazing!

I really enjoyed using this layout which is from Retro Sketches #149 although once I decided to use my sentiment as the focal point I was at a loss with all that space in the bottom right side so added in some washi tape.  I used a Design Seeds color combination for this adding in the touch of green.

I am also entering this into the Seize the Birthday Challenge this week which is Anything Goes.

Hope you like it and join us for Blogger's Challenge this week.

SDC177: New Year's Resolution

Claudine Criner is our hostess for our first challenge in the New Year over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge:

Most of us always create a New Year's Resolution and the beginning of the New Year.  For 2015 try your hand at making something with your New Year's Resolution in mind.

I love coloring this sunflower, and you can't see it in this photo but I've added some dimension to it by cutting out the petals and flower center and putting dimensionals under it.  I've also added some crystal lacquer to the petals, stems and over the sequins (which I wish I hadn't done).

Growing your dreams is always something to look forward to year after year.  My husband and I talk about several things we'd like to do besides the standard "losing weight, being more healthy"-so hoping this is the year for us to do a few of those things.

I've used the RetroSketches #147 for this creation as well.

Hope you will join us over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge this week!

My Coolest Friend

Trying to break out some of those Christmas stamps and get a few in my stash.

I got these stamps at the Archiver's store closing and hadn't used them yet-so decided they needed to be inked up.

I used last week's Retro Sketches challenge for this.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting me this week!

Birthday Sunflowers

I've been trying to get back into my creative mode and this past weekend was pretty successful.  I stamped and worked a little on my Project Life album.

I thought I'd be tired of sunflowers after doing the wedding invitations and then the wedding itself, but no-it's the first one I pulled out to work with when I was stamping.  Of course I went straight for my sketches as well :-)

For this card I used the current Retro Sketches challenge.

Hope to see you all around here more frequently!

Happy Birthday

Hope you all had a wonderful and safe 4th of July.  We had some fun with friends for a BBQ and fireworks.

I've been enjoying my week without the kiddos and although I haven't stamped quite as often as I had intended to, I have gotten a few cards done.  I'm looking forward to some scrapbooking tomorrow with a friend.

I love the flowers in this set from Verve stamps and especially love layering them.  I used some patterned papers to create this layered flower.

This is creeping in just under the wire for the Retro Sketches, this is one I will be using again, loved how quick and easy it came together.

Happy Anniversary Sequins

When I was at CKC Manchester last weekend I picked up some new papers and then went on a mission to find some sequins.  I picked some up at the local Michael's and couldn't wait to come home and create with my new goodies.

I don't love how my little sequins pocket turned out, but it was my first one so I hope that I've learned what I need to do differently next time.

I haven't played in the Retro Sketches in awhile, but wanted to play along this week.  As I searched my stash I realized I only have 2 anniversary sentiment stamps.  One was too large, and this one I think is too small.

Hope you are having a great week and thanks for stopping by to visit!

SCS LOVE FEST

WOW, I have to say it's been awhile since I spent a few hours in my studio creating just for fun and this weekend I made it a point to work my way through some road blocks (mainly my mojo and time).

I set out to create a lot for fun this weekend (I did get some design team projects completed as well).  I wrote out the list of the SCS challenges going on and then a list of other challenges I wanted to play in.

I hope you will bear with my LONG post today as I share an array of cards.  As I was telling my friend I was creating like crazy, I realized that almost ALL of my photos have a floral focal point.  What can I say?  I love the floral stamps!!!!

Hope your Monday is starting off well and that I might be able to spark a little creativity for you.  I know I've counted on all of you at one time or another to spark mine :-)

Celebrate & New Fun Challenge

I'm so happy my mojo from the holidays seems to have returned and I'm feeling the "itch" to stamp more at night.  I was able to get some quick cards done yesterday using the new 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge and last weeks Retro Sketches.

I didn't write down my time but I know it was under 6 minutes to do it.  The one thing that is hard to tell on the photo is above and below the sentiment there are score lines.

I really liked how this turned out so I put together 3 more cards just like it and they all used up patterned paper scraps.  I think I will be making a set of these cards as lord knows I have scraps laying around.

Speaking of patterned paper scraps, my friend Beth Matson and I wanted to invite you all to join us the second Monday's in the month (next one Feb 11) for our friendly new challenge, The Paper Hoarder's Push.  We will challenge you to use up (or as much of it as you can) a patterned paper pad.  For February we will be using Carta Bella Devoted.  Perfect time to get a head start on some Valentine cards.  We'll share ours on Feb. 11th and hope you will join us.

Happy Holidays

I adore how this card turned out.  I'm usually a "straight and narrow" stamper, I have a hard time creating cards with cock-eyed pieces but I do like a good challenge.

This is the last Sketch for You to Try.  I've loved Jen's sketches and am sad that this will be the very last one!

I'm excited that this year I completed all 12 of the sketches for this challenge.

I'm also including this card for the current challenge over at the Paper Loft travel blog for a holiday challenge.

For my next card as I've been creating so many Christmas cards, I used the new Retro Sketches #40 on this card.  I used some more washi tape on this one :-)  I'm seriously thinking I'll be using some of the washi on Christmas gifts this year.

Holiday Duo

Yesterday during my lunch hour I got inspired by Facetiming with a friend.  I wish I had that much mojo when I truly have the free time to stamp.  I'm hoping that I can keep up with it and continue with some holiday cards.

For my first card I used the current Sketch for You to Try for November.  Only one more month and my goal to do each of these sketches monthly has been accomplished.  I'm happy about that!

My other goal is try to use up some of this pattern paper I have been collecting.  I keep on wanting more and more of it but not using up enough of it.  I bought just one holiday pad this year and am hoping to get super creative with it-so I apologize now for the abundance of green and red I will be showing in the next 5-6 weeks.

I added the sentiment from the Trees4Christmas set from The {Stamps} of Life and the little poinsettia's are from Happy-Hollydays set from Our Craft Lounge.  I'm using up my Simple Stories Handmade Holiday paper pack for my Christmas cards this year.

My second card I started with the Retro Sketches #36 but I kind of strayed from the original sketch by having a larger sentiment framing and had it off kilter.  I also adhered my button to the sentiment frame instead of the banner piece.

For this card there is no stamping .  The one thing I like about Simple Stories are their pads have these die cut pages included and make for some easy cards.

You can't tell but my red layer underneath it all does have a rounded bottom, which I covered with my oversized sentiment piece.  I love how it turned out though and will be making many more card using these pieces.  I wrapped the top with Lawn Fawn hemp cord. I love this is a heavier hemp cord!  I used up an old button from Papertrey Ink and adhered a big pearl from Want2Scrap on it.

My husband loved them, and that made me happy as I am trying to build up a little stock of them for him to take to work to sell.

Enjoy your Thursday!

Click Collection

Last night I got on a roll creating some cards using my new sets from Mama Elephant and For the Record 2 papers from Echo Park.  Bear with me as this will be a heavy post full of cards.  Come back tomorrow as I'll share with you how I packaged up this set.

The first one uses a new sketch challenge- CAS(E) this sketch!  The sketch was very clean and simple-loved how quick this card came together although for the life of me I can't find my 1" circle die and my punch is kaput.

Don't you love that little washi tape stamp under the sentiment??

***************************************************
For this card I stamped two of the balloons on patterned paper and fussy cut them and the polka dot one is a stamp from the Good Times set.  Loving this new Lawn Fawn trimmings twine I got, nice and thick and ties easily as well.

***************************************************
Getting in right in the knick of time with the current Retro Sketches challenge.  My cameras ended up being a little off kilter on this one, not so much centered...but I'm ok with that (this time anyway).  This was a fun sketch to do.

My card uses a different set this time from Mama Elephant called We Click. I think I was sold on this set from the sentiment alone.

Ardyth's challenge over at Hope You can Cling to today is to be inspired by one (or more) of the vital signs (heart beat/pulse, temperature, blood pressure or breathing).  My card uses blue for cold (temperature) and hearts in the cameras (for heart beat/pulse)

 ***************************************************
The sentiment in this set really cracks me up!  I wanted to keep with the same theme as my other cards so I cut the scallop part  out of the paper itself and think it turned out perfectly.  The Hope You Can Cling to Challenge for yesterday was from Lynn to use a decorative edge on your card.

The sketch is from Skipping Stones Designs and I put to use some of this gorgeous May Arts Crochet White ribbon.

 ***************************************************
This was probably the most difficult sketch for me to work with.  It's the current Fall-to-Layout and the while the design was so cool, I had the hardest time figuring out how to make it work.  I think I accomplished it.  I cut two strips of my yellow and cut them at the same angle, then flipped one so they were the opposite of one another on the card.  The little patterned strip was a left over piece of patterned paper. Another sentiment that just cracks me up.  This is the perfect set for teenagers.

 ***************************************************
Hope you enjoyed my card parade today, was fun to create some cards using the same papers, size, and stamps.

Never Give Up

I am going to double up on a few posts as I don't want my cards to get lost in the mix before I mail them off.

Last year I enjoyed participating in the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges over at SCS and am hoping to keep up with it again this year.

My card above was for the challenge issued by cakath with the theme HOPE AND COURAGE.  I thought this sentiment was perfect and I wanted to just use a simple image so colored these flowers.

I used the current Sweet Sunday Sketch for this card as well and some of my all time favorite papers from My Mind's Eye.

Card details:
Stamps: Budding Blossoms and Borderline from Verve Stamps
Cardstock: Dark Chocolate, Coral Necklace, Very Vanilla and My Mind's Eye Lost & Found-Blush
Inks: Chocolate Chip, copics
Embellishments: pewter brads

My second card is holiday themed using one of my favorite sketch challenge sites, Retro Sketches.  I've been slacking in participating in these lately but was inspired this weekend when stamping.

I'm not a very good mixer of patterned paper but thought this looked good.  I think I would have layered it if I had more room on my card, but wanted to make a traditional Arielle card- square.  I love her style!

This card was also created for the Moxie Fab Challenge to make a Holiday card.

Happy Birthday

A super quick post today...it's been a busy weekend as we celebrated my son's 13th birthday.  I whipped up a super quick card for him as I'm not great at masculine cards and I knew this would probably just lay around.

I took my patterned paper and randomly stamped different types of the #13 on the card and then just added the happy birthday banner.

I followed the Retro Sketches #30 sketch for this one.
