Sketch Challenges

This weekend we had nothing planned and I was able to spend almost 2 full days in my craft room getting inky.  It was productive and my mojo was flowing pretty well.  I completed 30 cards (some were multiples) but was proud that I got so much accomplished.

Of course, my favorites are always sketch and color challenges as it gives me a jumping point.

You can definitely see the theme of what I was creating (floral):

For the Fusion Card Challenge, I used the colors in the photo with the sketch to base my card on.  I pulled out my Simon Says Stamp Even More Spring Flowers and Verve Stamps Poppy Birthday along with some glitter washi tape and Teresa Collins Now & Then patterned paper from my stash.  I colored the floral image with my aquapainter and inks and embossed the sentiment.

For my next creation, which was more of a challenge because it's the Freshly Made Sketches and it's SQUARE which I don't do often.
Again, with the floral theme and pulling out some of my patterned papers along with one of my favorite images from Taylored Expressions, Sketchbook Florals and dies.  I colored my image with my copic markers and added the little tag sentiment on.

Hope you've enjoyed the creations and appreciate you stopping by and saying "hi".

SDC180: Painted Background

Corrie Herriman is our hostess this week over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge and here is her challenge details:

Happy Wednesday everybody.  My first love in crafting is paint.  So, today I would like you all to use paint in your background.  Doesn't matter what paint or how you apply it, just have fun!

I was testing out my background painting and I'm still on the fence about this ATC I created.  I embossed the image in white embossing powder and then watercolored over it.

I wanted to add a cute little sentiment on this and then some embellishments by adding some candy dots.

Hope you will join us at Stampotique Designer's Challenge this week!

SDC172: Spotlighting

Arwen is our hostess this week over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge and she's got the spotlight on you:

"Artwork consist of many small details that make a whole.

This week I would like to see spotlights in your work.
Lift a detail of your artwork visibly out."

For my card I created my spotlight card using the cute little bunny with Lots of Gifts.  I love how it turned out and will make a great kids card-wishing I would have made a few of them.

I drew inspiration from The Paper Player's Sketch from last week.

If you are not sure what spotlighting is, you can find a tutorial here so you can join us at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge for a chance to win a $30 gift certificate for Stampotique stamps.

Again, trying to use up some of my patterned papers and keeping some cards pretty simple.
I love the ability to combine different stamp sets with these sketches.

For my card above I used the Poppy Birthday set from Verve and the Birthday Sampler set from Paper Smooches.

SDC140: Vintage

Today over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge France Papillion is our hostess this week and here's what her challenge to everyone is:

‘Hello lovely Stampotiquers,
Lots of us get so excited when we get our hands on an old ledger, old books, or old family photos even from people we don’t know. But those are often hard to come by, or very expensive.

Because of that, lots of us became very agile in making new things look old. Using inks, paper distressing tools and yummy techniques.

How about we combine all that love for all things vintage and all those yummy techniques with our favorite stamps, to create a vintage looking Stampotique piece?
Can’t wait to see where that leads you! Ready? Create!’

I always admire the vintage looking cards but I'm not very good at making them.  This was one that I thought...hmmm...I did a pretty good job with it.

I paper pieced the dress with some patterned paper that looks like something that would have been straight out of Maria von Trapp's closet (or curtains I should say).  I did some distressing and inking of the edges and used this cool die cut a friend gave me that reminds me of a fancy doily.  I colored the prima flowers with one of my copics to match the dress but in the picture it looks a lot oranger.

Hope you will join us for this weeks challenge-your last week to play for a chance to win a $30 gift certificate for Stampotique stamps.

Happy Birthday Sunflower

This card just brightens me up and makes me think of warmer weather.

I've needed to create some birthday cards for my stash, but this card went in the mail almost immediately after I made it for a stamping friend.

Again, some new stamps I had added to my stash that I never got around to using.  Finally had some time to play with them and loving both sets.

Hope you are having a great start to the week!

BC360: Think Spring

Today over at Blogger's Challenge our theme is "Think Spring".

I love flowers, and so my stash of stamps is full of floral stamps and this always reminds me of the spring and the blooms we begin to see.

I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch for this card.

This is a new set to my stash from Papertrey Ink called Harvest Berries.  I love the look of these and can see myself using this a lot...oh wait, I did use it for my LAST blogger's challenge :-)

Hope you enjoy the weekend and find some time to join us at Blogger's Challenge.

SDC134: Pairs

Kathi Rehrek is our hostess with the mostess this week over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge and here was her challenge for us (and you):

It's almost Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day makes me think of couples, so my challenge is called Perfect Pairs.

Use two (2) of an item so that things are in pairs. This can be two stamped images, two embellishments, two layers of patterned paper, two colors, etc.

See how many pairs you can use in your project. Just be sure to use at least one perfect pair and have fun!

For my card I used a pair of the images "Spidergrass 3063" as well as a pair of pearls by the sentiment.

I combined this challenge with the current Sweet Sunday Sketch #206.

Hope you will join us and show off your pairs!

Glittery Birthday

I despise working with glitter, it seems to get everywhere anytime I use it; but, I do adore the way it looks and of course could not resist purchasing some while I was shopping at a show awhile ago.

This wasn't easy to create either-tried really hard not to mix the glitters but think it turned out pretty good.

Kept the sentiment very simple-I love the Sentiment Sampler set from Paper Smooches!

Card details:
Stamps: Sentiment Sampler from Paper Smooches
Cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Basic Black
Inks: Ranger Ink Jet Black
Embellishments: Want2Scrap Self Adhesive Bling rhinestones, Scor-pal tape, Periwinkle, Misty Blue glitter from SparkleNSprinkle

A "View" to a new set

This was a fun set to work with this month.  At first I wasn't sure what I was going to create when I picked this set to work with...but as soon as I got the set my mind was swirling with ideas.  Most of the them in black and white.

And to top off the cute set, there is also some great dies to go with it!

If you are part of the die hard club the set was mailed out already, but will be available to all on the 20th of the month.

Card details:
Stamps: Tv2Stamp from The {Stamps} of Life
Cardstock: Basic Black, Portobello Rd by My Mind's Eye, Very Vanilla
Inks: Archival Ink in Jet Black
Embellishments: Trendy Tape by Queen & Co-Filmstrip, TV die from The {Stamps} of Life

I stamped the background with the little stamp and then I die cut the larger t.v.  Inside I stamped a border from the Quick2border set.

Card details:
Stamps: Tv2Stamp and Quick2border from The {Stamps} of Life
Cardstock: Basic Black, Crumb Cake
Inks: Archival Ink in Jet Black
Embellishments: TV die from The {Stamps} of Life

Card details:
Stamps: Tv2Stamp and Quote2love from The {Stamps} of Life
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pixie Pink
Inks: Archival Ink in Jet Black
Embellishments: TV die from The {Stamps} of Life

This one didn't photograph too well, but I loved that my washi tape and patterned paper are a bit off skewed on my base card.

New Sentiment Set

This weekend I got a little time to put some ink to paper.  I can't say it came easily to me, after taking a bit of a break from stamping I'm trying to make my comeback.

I had some new releases to work with and this was one I knew needed to be used immediately.  I love the fancy script letters on the formalwords2stamp set from The {Stamps} of Life

Make sure you head on over to the gallery and checking out all the fantastic creations from the team using this set.

For my first card I wanted to do a little embossing with my sentiment and used a combination of a sketch to give it a bit of an envelope look.

This card uses the Love2hug set as well which I stamped directly on the patterned paper.

Card details:
Stamps: Formalwords2stamp, Love2hug from The {Stamps} of Life
Cardstock: Regal Rose, Teresa Collins Memories
Inks: Regal Rose, Versamark, Basic Gray
Embellishments: grommet from SU, clear embossing powder

My next card I also did some embossing on the sentiment, with a clear embossing powder and wanted to create my own background with the back2basics set.

I used the OWH#193 sketch for this card adding some pink sorbet twine and Kaiser Craft Crimson sparklets.

Card details:
Stamps: Formalwords2stamp, Back2Basics from The {Stamps} of Life
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Baja Breeze
Inks: Crumb Cake, Pixie Pink, Baja Breeze, Versamark
Embellishments: Kaiser Craft crimson sparklets, clear embossing powder, pink sorbet twine from The {Twinery}

I kept my last card pretty clean and simple using the floral image as my focal point.  I paper pieced the flower and colored the leaves with a copic marker.

Talk4Phone

Oh, I'm having so much fun playing with this new set from The {Stamps} of Life called Talk4Phone.  Quote bubbles are in on creations and there are some cute ones in this set alone with a blank bubble that you can write your own stuff in.

For my first card, I went a little out of my comfort zone and got a little dirty with some silver shimmer spritz from Tsukineko.

The chevron stamps are from the Quick2Border set.  I love, love, love how this turned out!!!  I think this is one I could make multiple cards of.

Today over at Going Grey with Scrap-Creations our theme is "Mother's Day".

I created a card using my favorite floral set from The {Stamps} of Life called Mums2Stamp combined with a sentiment from the new Talk4Phone set.

This week's Paper Player's Challenge is also a Mother's Day theme that I'm playing along with.  Of course after I finished this card, I decided to go back and add "MOM" onto the top above the burlap with my Alpha4Fayleen stamp.

Hope you will join us with your Mother's Day creations over at Going Grey with Scrap-Creations.

Birthday Bouquet for Kristen

Today over at Going Grey with Scrap-Creations our theme is "Flower Power".

My birthday card is a shout out to our Going Grey with Scrap-Creations owner and my good friend, Kristen as it's her birthday today.  Happy Birthday my friend!

I'm not going to lie to you, I love flowers but this one was hard for me as I has been trying to combine my friend Jeanne's Mix-ability challenge on SCS to hand cut circle flowers.  I cut out about 3 different sets of different flowers and nothing was coming together like I wanted it to.

Finally, this weekend while browsing the color challenges I came across the current Dynamic Duo's color challenge and decided some patterned paper flowers would work well.  The flowers are some of my My Mind's Eye Ruby patterned paper and I drew my stems and leaves on myself.  I had some ribbon scraps and added that to my bouquet.

The sentiment is from Sweet Stamp Shop's Simple Sentiments set. (try saying that multiple times)

Hope you will join us at Going Grey with Scrap-Creations and show us your flower power.

Fantasy in Fall Combo

The other day I posted a card in which I used some scraps of this same color.  I originally began with the idea of doing the 10 minute craft dash using these colors but wanted to incorporate another challenge I had flagged with it, the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger challenge using the fabulous colors and design elements below (I love the colors & the little beaded leaves in the back).

I went with the CAS(E) this sketch but my circles turned out quite larger than the sketch, but I tried to stick to the design anyway.  So, anyway, in combining the challenges, my first card went over the 10 minutes, but A LOT!!  So I had to go back to the drawing board and it went smoother the 2nd time around.

This time around I used my punches instead of my dies and that seemed to get me going a bit quicker.  I guess I cheated a little since I had a practice card the first time around, but this time it still took me 9:27 to complete it.

Card details:
Stamps: Curly Cute from Stampin'Up!, Decor #4-2166 from Stampotique Originals
Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Crumb Cake
Inks: Crumb Cake
Embellishments: Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Amuse Creative Candy-Orange, Circle Punches and Dies

BC253: Color Challenge

I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date.

I started working on my blogger's challenge card this morning after I saw this card (the one from Maile Belles) last night.  I thought about it all night and knew what I wanted to do and thought it would just roll off my fingers.  HUH???  Easy card, no WAY!

Today's blogger's challenge is red, black and white/vanilla.  While I adore making black, white and any color cards, this design I wanted to copy was not easy for me.

I started off by stamping off my black but that didn't look good, so I went with a dark grey (hey...it's a shade of black right?).  Still not sure I love it, but I do like the overall design and just need to find the right stamp set to use for it.

Want to join us for blogger's challenge?  Join us by linking your red, black and white/vanilla creation at anyone who has the blog hop up or directly over on Lisa's blog.  Please link directly to your creation.
