Blogger Challenge, Week #36

I think it's week 36 anyway. I missed last week as I'm a total blonde and did this weeks as last week, totally missed a week in there. I thought I would get around to posting one, but I didn't and I'm sorry about that!

This week our challenge was to use the layout on page 44 of the Spring Summer Catalog - "with deepest sympathy". Unfortunately I was making a sympathy card and I love how it turned out even if it was for a terribly sad occasion. I did change it up a bit by using my hardware below the picture instead of above it.

Make sure you check out the Blogger Challenge Logo to the right ------------------> below for a link to all the players. If you choose to join, please post a link to your sample, I'd love to see it!

Stamp Set: Jolie's Fleurs by My Favorite Things
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Le Jardin DSP, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Sahara Sand
Inks: Versafine Onyx Black, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Sahara Sand
Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware, Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon, dimensionals

Sorry for the dark picture!

Nathan frame

This is a frame I did for my cousin and his wife who just lost their little baby.

I had wanted to make the baby a name frame and he lived only 4 brief days before passing so I thought about doing a verse in a frame instead. I hope they will like the verse as well as the frame.

I'm tired and don't feel like writing out the recipe right now, but hope you like it!

Thank you to all my girlfriends who sent me several sites to poems, verses, etc. This one I found online I really liked and since my cousins are very spiritual I thought this would be perfect.

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #6

Cardstock: CTMH Lazy of Days of Summer paper pack, Mellow Moss, Brocade Blue, Whisper White
Inks: Versafine Onyx Black, Always Artichoke

Scrapbook layout turned in to card

I used Allison's scrapbook sketch to turn in to a card. I really liked this one and although it did take me forever to do, I really liked the outcome. I'm trying to practice my watercoloring!

Using scraps off the last card I continued with the theme of eggplant envy and old olive and added Regal Rose in to the mix.

Stamp Sets: Bird Border by Magenta, sentiment by Hero Arts (Many Friends)
Cardstock: Eggplant Envy, Regal Rose, Old Olive, Confetti White
Inks: same as above
Accessories: Old Olive Brads, Photo Corner Punch, primas (colored white prima with regal rose marker)

Captain Crafter Sketch

I really liked this simple sketch from Captain Crafter's site so I decided to try it this weekend. It was simple and easy to do, definitely one I'd use again.

Stamp Sets: Happy Harmony
Cardstock: Eggplant Envy, More Mustard, Old Olive, patterned cardstock (unknown), Whisper White
Inks: same as cardstock
Accessories: Spriral tab punch, ticket corner punch, sponges, Stampin' Write Markers

Blogger Challenge, Week #34

This week our challenge was to use the card on p. 42 of the Spring/Summer Catalog (the "happy birthday" card). While this layout was fairly easy, I was short on time due to 2 sick kids at home most of the week so I didn't get to play as much as I wanted to. If time permits tomorrow, maybe I'll make another one.

I used my new Flyin' High set from CTMH along with the SCS Color Challenge for the week using Green Galore, Kraft and Temping Turquoise. I added a little ribbon and some brads to the card as well as some crystal effects to the car to make it shiny. I think my hubby wanted to puke when I just showed it to him, but hey, that's life. We don't always LOVE the outcome of the cards we make, but some little kid will appreciate it I'm sure.

Make sure to check out the Blogger Challenge logo that will link you to all the other fabulous players. Check them out to see how many different cards can be made based on one layout.

Have a great weekend!

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #4

Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge was extremely challenging!! Make sure to check out her sketch and noon EST today.

Every time I looked at this sketch and started a card, the card ended up not working with this sketch.

Finally on Saturday night my brainstorming kicked in and I kicked out 2 cards, one with a girl theme and the other with a boy theme.

The first card I also included a close-up of the little girl to show the stickles I used on her sash and crown. I colored her in with markers but wish I would have used watercolor crayons for a more subtle look. You can click on the picture to see it up close.

The second card I used some leftover images that I had received to do the frames I had posted down below. I also tilted the sketch to give a different view. There is a River Rock color on the patterned cardstock that of course was covered up with the little triangle piece.

Card Details:
Stamp Set: Birthday Beauty (retired)
Cardstock: Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, patterned paper unknown
Inks: Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, Signo gel pen, Fruit Punch and Silver Stickles

Card Details:
Stamp Set: Bronc Buster, Wanted
Cardstock: 3 bugs in a rug Jovial Jester, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, River Rock
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Brocade Blue
Accessories: Circle Punch, sponges, Brocade grosgrain ribbon, vintage brads

Make sure to check out Mary Jo's sketch challenge and please post your creation with a link on this post, Mary Jo's post or on SCS with keyword TSSC4.

Thanks for looking and look forward to seeing your creations!

Blogger Challenge, Week #33, SC162

This week I combined the blogger challenge (use Pumpkin Pie, Taken with Teal, Rose Red and Old Olive) with the sketch challenge on SCS.

This was the worst color combo I've ever seen (sorry Lisa!) I just couldn't even think about using the Taken with Teal but I guess it looks okay on the card now that I look at it.

I got this awesome template from Sharon Johnson's blog and it was SOOOOO easy to make, I'm definitely going to have to try it again, and think it could actually hold 4 cards w/envies instead of just 2. I loved her sample so much and she was so generous to share the directions on how she made hers.

Make sure to check out the Blogger's Challenge button to the right which if clicked will give you a listing of all those who participate. Check out their awesome work as well to see what everyone came up with!

Card Details:
Stamp Set: Cosmobella, Cheers sentiment

Fun With Squares Challenge and Name Frame

Tonight I completed a name frame I started working on this afternoon...well I totally revamped what I originally started with as it wasn't working for one of the long name frames.

The picture to the left is actually a challenge Anna Wight had, called Fun with Squares. This was the perfect and easy sketch to use for the baby card I needed to make to go with the frame.

The frame a square wood one I bought for like $1 last year...I got 2 of them and they have collected dust in my cabinet so when the first frame I attempted wasn't working out the say I wanted it to, I brought this one out. Connie Babbert was sweet enough to stamp me some images of the Wanted and Bronc Buster set, most of which I didn't even end up using, but will at another time on some cards. Thanks Connie!

I used sticky tape to adhere the paper to the frame and then cut around the edges and sanded them down. I then stippled some color on to the edges. I decided not to paint or do anything to the frame itself except cover the front as they them in the room is Western/Cowboys and thought that the exposed wood frame would work well.

Card Details:
Stamp Sets: Bronc Buster, Wanted, Simple Sayings (retired)
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, 3 bugs in a rug Jovial Jester and Jovial Zesty, textured cardstock unknown
Inks: Chocolate Chip and Brocade Blue
Accessories: Round Tab punch, cirlce punches, brads, stipple brush
I copied Anna's layout using 2.5" square patterned paper

Name Frame:
Stamp Sets: Bronc Buster, Wanted, CTMH Giggle Caps Alphabet
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, 3 bugs in a rug Jovial Zesty, textured cardstock unknown
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Brocade Blue

Weekend Sketch Challenge #33

I liked this sketch and I even used colors that normally I wouldn't pull out of my stash. Trying to break my old habit of using the same colors. I purposely didn't order cardstock this month to replace my favorite colors (that and I'm trying to cut back on some of the supplies I buy) so that I would use the other colors I've had forever.

Card Details:
Stamp Set: Simply Said and So Many Sayings (retired)
Cardstock: Daisy D's Morroccan Floral Eggplant (patterned paper), Eggplant Envy, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Whisper White
Inks: Eggplant Envy, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Black Staz-on
Accessories: Word Window Punch, ribbon from a scrapbooking kit that coordinates with the Daisy D paper, Square Punches, Gold cord, Joy Crafts Decorative Pearls

Sunday Dress

I made a card to showcase a way to use black rub-on flowers for a friend and had this card in mind as soon as I told her I would make something. Granted, it took me a few trays as I had another sentiment in mind for the bottom of the card and that just didn't work out.

I'm so excited that I stamped for a good 4 hours tonight and got 6 cards done. Ha ha!!! Hey, I was having fun by myself down here in the basement with some peace and quiet stamping time so I'm happy.

I'll be sharing a few more in the next few days...I was working on some challenge cards to share for next week, so you'll have to wait for those.

Card Details:
Stamp Sets: Stamping Bella Sunday Dress, SU! Small Sayings (retired)
Cardstock: Pretty in Pink, Basic Black, Whisper White
Inks: Black Staz-onAccessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Blender Pens, Soft Subtle Eyelets, Doodle Rub Bloom Borders by Polar Express
