I'm on Cloud 9

So now that Valentine's Day is over, I can share the card I made for my hubby.  I honestly debated giving him the card I made him last year, he admitted he wouldn't even remember...but I figured since there were some new challenges I wanted to play in so I threw a quick card together.

The new Crazy 4 Challenges is a sketch and how could I forgo the new color challenge at SCS which uses some of my favorite colors: CC362: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Crumb Cake

I rotated the sketch and I also changed where the sentiment went as I couldn't manage it on the side like it shows in the sketch.  I colored my balloon with various copics and I had to add in a few red hearts for Valentine's Day.  

Hope your honeys spoiled you on Valentine's Day- I got a beautiful plant of my favorite flowers-Calla Lillies in the most beautiful light purple color and he made the family some quesadillas with his new quesadilla maker and I made us some beer marinated chicken tacos with shrimp and it was nice to sit down and have quick dinner as a family (we did still have sports).

You Float My Boat

Today is my last day as the Artist of the Month over at Our Craft Lounge.  I've had such a blast playing along with the challenges and the OCL images.  You'll be seeing so much more of them on my blog going forward as I've gotten so many awesome sets to work with.

So since the Christmas holiday is now under our belts,  you should be bouncing back to a normal schedule (hah!!!  how about we do that next week?) I thought I'd roll right into Valentine's Day working with the newly release set Smooth Sailing.  This is one of my most favorite sentiments for Valentine's Day and I love the sailboat and light house in this set.

I combined this with the OCL97 Challenge which was a sketch and I turned it to fit my image and scaled down my card size just a little.  I used the current color combination over at SplitCoast Stampers for this card as well.

Wish you were here postcard

Today I'm posting a card that I created as part of a fundraiser that Jenn Shurkus is doing.  You can read more about the cause and how you can bid here.  This card will be donated to the highest bidder and they will get a lot of wonderful creations from various designers.

I was inspired by a few various things on this card.  The first being Suzanne's wonderful card here where she uses such wonderful techniques to make that awesome background.  I have a lot of those stamps and thought the Postcard stamp from the Ephemeral Backgrounds from Artistic Outpost would be perfect.  I pulled the Color Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers yesterday and used that as my color choices.

The sentiment and palm tree is one of my favorite traveling sets from Clear & Simple Stamps called Traveller.  I didn't want to overwhelm with color so I sponged on some sand and ocean and used some seam binding to tie it all together, coloring it with my Wild Wasabi ink pad.  I decided to add to the sentiment, but signing it.

Along with the birthday card kick I've been on, I created a sweet little card using a few old challenges.  I love this Greetings4Birthday set from The {Stamps}of Life.  I love how these colors look together so I'll definitely use them again.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge & SCS Color Challenge

This card is long overdue to go in the mail, I hope my partner who I'm mailing it to will forgive me.

I saw Karen's sketch this week and new it would work perfect with this set. I combined the sketch challenge with CC225 on SCS which was to use Kraft, Night of Navy and So Saffron. I really like this combo together and think I'll add some red in to it next time.

I added some rhinestones (from the rhinestone brads) on to the center of my Navy flowers, love the look of that!

I had this image colored for quite a few days and just couldn't decide what colors to use it with. I decided to use the SCS Color Challenge #159 (Going Gray, Soft Sky and Whisper White) along with a sketch from Julee Tillman for her Mojo Monday challenge. I really liked how it turned out, simple and clean looking.

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge, minus the cupcake

This card is based off a sketch on Taylor VanBrugen's "Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge" only I didn't have any cupcakes to use. I also combined it with this weeks color challenge CC152 on SCS using Apricot Appeal, Ballet Blue and Real Red. I really like this color combo and the way it turned out.
