Blogger Challenge, Week #49

Crazy to think this is week #49 of our challenges! This week our challenge was anything animal. I've had this set on my desk for about 6 weeks, borrowed it from my SIL and have only used it a handful of times. Thought it would be a good one to use as you all might be getting tired of me using my Bundle of Joy and Bundled in Love ;-) I used the same color combination as I did the other day here.

This is a simple card for me, I didn't have a lot of time. I'm going on vacation and trying to wrap things up with work so I may not be participating next week...we'll see how much time I get to stamp over the weekend (with baseball tournaments...huh!)

May 2008 Project Parade Challenge

I know I'm going crazy with the Imaginisce images I have. I love how cute they are and seem to go with anything I'm doing these days.

I loved all the color schemes I saw going around with Verve Visuals challenge that I decided to give it a try. I think I will probably do a few more cards with this color scheme as I really liked it and can think of a few more sets I'd like to try with it.

I used Imaginisce Flip Flop and Penguin Girl for this card. I used a layout from Colleen Schaan
which was easy and fun. I also did something different for this layout. When I found the sketch, I mapped it out on my grid sheet and that way I knew exactly what size to cut my pieces (with the exception of the circles). This made the process so much easier for me!

I used pumpkin pie, old olive, soft sky and regal rose inks and cardstock for this card along with my Rich Regals brads for the center of the flip flop flowers.

Hope you enjoy!

ETA: I apologize to Colleen, I have Connie in my credits on my picture and I tried to fix it, but her name is really Colleen and her link is above.

Blogger Challenge, Week #48 & TSSC18

This week our challenge was to use Red, White and Blue. I decided to combine this with another challenge I missed this week for Monday Technostamper Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.

I'm so thrilled I decided to try this layout as I absolutely love it so I did 2 cards again. I used a few more images I had laying around.

The card on the left uses the Penguin from Imaginesce and I knew when we were given this challenge that I wanted to use him. I just couldn't figure out the coloring medium I wanted to use so this is about my 4th one. I tried colored pencils, pure color pencils, markers and finally settled on watercolor/marker combo. Do you remember during the hot summer months eating Bomb pops? We used to always get these from the ice cream truck that came around. I used the shaving cream technique for the background on the front along with faux brads with my white signo gel pen in the photo corners.

For the other card I used one of my new images from Stampotique called Peacock. I used my pure color pencils on this, it's very plain looking card with no embellishments but I'm okay with that. I printed out the phrase on my computer "Birds of a feather flock together" which I thought was a perfect sentiment for Peacock. The background paper is retired Stampin'Up!

Have a great holiday weekend, I have one more card to share in another post.

Inspired by Tanis

I was inspired by this card of Tanis' as it was simple and a focal point that was just one image. I liked that and had just the image I wanted to use in mind. I used some retired cardstock (Buckaroo Blue and Cool Carribean) as well as some Wild Asparagus DSP. These were the quickest cards I made in a LONG time, maybe 10 minutes for both of them. Glad I stamped and colored a few more of the images.

The one on the left I used Confetti White cardstock with Staz-on and the right Whisper White cardstock with Staz-on. Boy, you can really tell the difference in the sharpness.

Hope you enjoy the little chick, I can't wait to use her little fella and some cute little flip flops!

Bloggers Challenge, Week #47

Wow! Week 47?? We've been doing this for almost a year now...seems unreal. Once I got started with this challenge which was to recreate the doggy card from p. 21 of the SU! Occasions mini, I had a blast with it. I left off some of the embellishments on the monkey/baseball card but overall I liked them all.

Make sure to check out the Bloggers Challenge Logo on the right for all the others participating in these weekly challenges.

I'm going to be ultra lazy today as I have a fussing baby right now so am going to take a drive to try and calm him down and skip doing the details of all the cards. If you need any info, don't hesitate to contact me or post in your comment and I'll get back to you.

Have a great weekend!

Color Inspiration #9

I decided to sit down and make a few cards today. Pathetically I only accomplished two of them, but I like them both a lot. My husband commented he thought it was my best work yet.

This color inspiration came from Kristina Werner and if you've ever seen her work, you should definitely check it out! I'd have to say this is one of my favorite color combos so far and I really like them all together.

I decided that I would color a few of the new images I ordered and love them with these colors!!! I love the images too and Vicki Garrett is the one who got me hook, line and sinker with the Stampotique stamps and I really love how well they stamp.

Hope you enjoy the cards as much as I enjoyed making them!

Mystery Image Swap: Host Janet Rains

On one of my yahoo groups we have been doing mystery image swaps. One of us has been hosting, picking a stamp set and sending a few of the images to each participant. We then create and send to a partner.

Janet Rains was our gracious host this month and sent us an image by Impression-Obsession
It is a gorgeous image but I was really at a loss of how to use it. I watercolored the image using some blues and purples with the middle being yellow. The background paper was Basic Grey and the general layout was inspired by one I saw on Misti's website which was an old SCS sketch (#21).

I also added a few pieces of ribbon on the side and adhered it under the flower image with dimensionals. In the corner it looked bare so I added some decorative mauve pearls by Joy Crafts.

My partner was Leigh O'Brien who is beyond talented and has an awesome stamping studio in here house. I was so intimidated as she is such an awesome stamper and so creative, but I finally just had to throw caution to the wind and go for it. Glad she liked it and had as difficult a time with the image as I did.

Have a great day!

Teacher's Gift

I made this for my son's teacher. Nothing extravagant, pretty simple and all inspired by Kim ; she has the directions for the box on there (I fit 8- 3 x 3 cards and envies in it with a little room to spare). I had a rough time with the box the cards went in as I think the measurements were off or I was too tired to read them so the lid fit a little loose, but it was cute when it was completed.

Stamp Set: Tart N Tangy
Cardstock: Summer Picnic, Real Red, Old Olive, Only Orange and Bashful Blue
Inks: Same as above
Accessories: non-SU ribbons, cirlce punches, scallop punches

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #17

I did a double challenge this week so Brenda Taylor if you are reading this and want to be suprised...don't peek!!!!!!!

Here is Mary Jo's TechnoStamper Monday Lunchtime Challenge and the 2nd challenge was to use Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla/Whisper White. I had this in my head and I was going to use another stamp set but then I always seem to revert back to a good old favorite. Guess I need some more stamp sets ;-)

Card Details:
Stamp Set: Bud Basics, Circle of Friendship
Cardstock/Inks: Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip, Au Chocolat DSP (retired)
Accessories: Jumbo Eyelets, Circle/Scallop punches, rhinestone brads (ice circles)

For this card, I brayered the soft sky on the Au Chocolat DSP (Thanks Lisa for this tip a long time ago). I also put a rhinestone brad inside the jumbo eyelet and I wish I could remember who to thank for that idea, but for the life of me I can't remember this morning.

Make sure to check out the other sketch challenge participants to see what wonderful creations they come up with at Mary Jo's website and please join in if you'd like by posting on Mary Jo's site, my site or upload to SCS with keyword TSSC17.

Bloggers Challenge

This week our challenge was to make a Mother's Day card. I had this card in mind ever since I bought this set from Stampotique (thanks Vicki!). There is a story behind it and my family "gets" the card, but others might not if they didn't know the story.

My daughter loves to play Guitar Hero with me. Even though she doesn't really know what she's doing yet, she loves to grab the guitar, sit with me and hit the stummer button (or whatever you call it). My husband grabbed the camera this day and snapped this picture of us. She's a doll when she wants to be and this is one of the times that just cracks me up. I always say "Do you want Mommy to rock?" and she says "Mommy rocks". Her favorite tune "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar.

I got this stamp this week and knew exactly what I wanted to do and was thrilled with the way the card came together. This girl reminds me of the one I use as my character on Guitar Hero.

Stamp Details:
Stamp: Stampotique
Cardstock: retired designer paper SU!, Only Orange, Green Galore, Basic Black, Watercolor paper
Inks: Black Stazon, Real Red reinker, Pink Passion reinker, Going Gray reinker
Accessories: Fruit Punch Stickles, Black Brads, Giga Scallop and Circle (or Mega...I get them confused), CK Fonts

Sorry I've been MIA

We had a bout of the flu go around and it hit the 2 adults harder than the little one...I had it for 2 days, then it went away and came back, it was horrible. Needless to say, I hadn't done any stamping in what seemed like ages and I finally knocked out 2 thank you cards today. They are not your typical "baby" thank you's, but I love this image so much. My son sits in his bouncy chair with these colors in it and there was a little book toy he likes to play with where I drew my color inspiration from. I've included it in the photo as well.

I also used a layout from Julee. I find a lot of inspiration from her site.

Card Details:
Stamp Set: Bird Border by Magenta
Cardstock: "Play" polka dot/orange paper by Wild Asparagus, Fabriano cards, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Brocade Blue
Inks: Versafine Onyx Black, reinkers
Accessories: Soft Subtles brads, ribbon for the corners

Have a great weekend!
