Owl Always...

I'm in love with these patterned owls.  I originally picked this strip of Baby Steps paper by Simple Stories and thought of a baby card, but then decided to just make a card to keep in my stash.

I stamped my image first in I'm a Princess Pink ink and then stamped over it with Dish All the Dirt Brown ink outline stamp.  I love these colors together!

Card details:
Stamps: moreowls2love by The {Stamps}of Life
Cardstock: Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla, Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip
Inks: I'm a Princess Pink, Dish All the Dirt Brown
Embellishments: mini rhinestones, distresser, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder

For my next card I used the sketch from the Card Ideas for Paper Crafters on p. 76.  I love this issue and think these 2 sketch magazines (the initial Go-To Sketches) are always at hand for me to use when needed for inspiration.

It was very difficult to take a good photo of this card, but you can see the little owls peeking out from the circles.

Card details:
Stamps: owls2love by The {Stamps}of Life
Cardstock: Kraft Like a Rockstar, GCD Studios Material Girl designer paper
Inks: Dish All the Dirt Brown, Copic
Embellishment: circle punches

Thanks a Latte Pocket Card

I had the card at the very bottom created quite awhile ago and when I saw this color challenge I thought this would be perfect to alter and add in some purple.  The only problem was I couldn't find the card anywhere.  This week's blogger's challenge was to use the following colors using any type of shade you wish:

So back to the drawing board I went and re-created my card that I had originally submitted to the Go-To Sketches using sketch #17.  It didn't get picked up but I'm thrilled to say one of my others did and it's in the current issue of Card Ideas for Paper Crafters (formerly the Go-To Sketches) that is available on the shelves now.

Card details:

Friend

I know some of you haven't even gotten a good dose of spring weather, but I'm ready for some summer weather.  I'm ready to go hang out on the boat with the kids and lay in the sun for a little bit.  My kids love the summer time and being outside, and ask to go out on the boat a lot.

This card was created for the Go-to Sketches call a bit back and uses Sketch #25 which was Ryann Salamon's sketch.  I love this little sailboat and how perfect is the paper to go with it.  I pulled used some scraps of the paper pack to paper piece the boats.

Think warm weather, think warm weather!
Supplies used:
Stamps: Text Objects from Verve Stamps
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Very Vanilla from SU, Summer Sunrise from Papertrey Ink, October Afternoon Seaside collection
Inks: Aqua Mist from Papertrey Ink, Night of Navy from SU
Accessories: Summer Sunrise ribbon from Papertrey Ink

You Rock!

I've still got lots of samples that I created using the Lines2Journal and Borders4Me set from The {Stamps}of Life from last month.  I went a little crazy with it and really love how many different ways you can use it.

This first card was another reject from the Go-To Sketches call from Papercrafts.  It uses Sketch #20 and I'll admit it wasn't one of my most creative submissions.

Card details:
Stamps: Labels2Use, Borders4Me from The {Stamps}of Life
Cardstock: Perfect Little Black Dress, Maroon Maven, A Blanc Check from Clear & Simple Stamps
Inks: Perfect Little Black Dress, Maroon Maven, from Clear & Simple Stamps, Copic R85
Accessories: White brads (colored with Maroon Maven inks) from Clear & Simple Stamps

This scrapbook page is of my little baby who is now 3.  Our friend took the picture of him in the middle at Christmastime last year and it was one of my absolute favorite pictures of him, it really showed his blue eyes.

Scrapbook page details:
Stamps: Lines2Journal, Labels2Use and Flowers2Share from The {Stamps}of Life
Cardstock: Whisper White, patterned papers from Project Life kit, Not Quite Navy, Ruby Red
Inks: Not Quite Navy and Ruby Red
Accessories: Twill ribbon colored with copic marker, White ribbon from SU, tab punch

Lastly, as I'm working on Project Life and being inspired by others to add in a little touch of my own, I created this cute journaling card to put in there.

I created the vase by using my Maroon Maven ink and brushing it on the stamp to create a wood grain look.

Journaling Card details:
Stamps: Lines2Journal and Flowers2Share from The{Stamps}of Life
Cardstock: Whisper White, patterned paper from Project Life set

sketch 21 Birthday Blessings

This morning Beate Johns put out a challenge to use the CR84FN18 color challenge and do some cyber stamping with her.  I was planning on stamping so I stepped up to the challenge.  I'm putting my best cheating effort first LOL.

See, this card was originally for the Paper Crafts Go-To Sketches call and I didn't have the yellow panel on it.  I decided that it would look great with the yellow and so added that as well as re-layered the flowers.  So I recycled it just a little.  I like how this looks so much more but apologize for the terrible lighting.

Sketch 21 from Go-to Sketches August 2011

Supplies used:
Stamps: Blessings & One Person from Verve Stamps
Cardstock: Terracotta Tile, Kraft and Dark Chocolate from Papertrey Ink, Golden Tiara from Clear & Simple Stamps
Inks: Dish All the Dirt Brown, Copic R21 & R24, Y35, W1, YG95 & YG97
Accessories: Dimensionls and Sakura pen, distressing tool

Now to the first card I created which I don't love, but was rushing and that was part of the problem (that and the kids are bouncing off the walls right now).

I used the CPS108 sketch which is sponsored by The{Stamps}of Life this week.

Just didn't come out how I envisioned it.  It's not terrible, but not my best creation.

Card details:
Stamps: Banners4All, Greetings4Birthday both from The{Stamps}of Life
Cardstock: Confetti White, Kraft and Terracotta Tile
Inks: Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Dish all the Dirt Brown, Copic RY18
Accessories: twine behind the banner.

Paper Crafts Reject Blog Hop

Yesterday the Paper Crafts Go-To Sketches call ended.  There were over 2700 submissions and only 288 were selected.  I was thrilled that I did get one accepted (my first time), but I also had 14 of them that were rejected. Not every one of them is superb, but I was happy with a few of them that I thought worked great with the sketches.  Dr. Amber is hosting a reject blog hop for all those that did not make it in.

Latisha Yoast wrote a wonderful blog post this morning about submitting to publications.  I love to read about those that do a lot of submitting as I'm not one of them.  I just began submitting last year at the strong encouragement from my friend Lisa Somerville, and I'm so glad she pushed me as I saw my dream come true only a few months after submitting.  I read a lot of suggestions about submitting and I never gave up hope.  That's the one suggestion I have for everyone, never give up.  Latisha is right, what might not be right for one magazine may be absolutely perfect for another.

So, here are two of my favorite cards that I submitted that got rejected and both work for Paper Smooches Guest Design call.  I'm happy to share them here along the hop as I've seen some amazing cards that didn't get picked up and I run those same thoughts of "what was wrong with it?" that many others have.

This card is based off sketch #14:

Card details:
Stamps: Birthday Buddies from Paper Smooches, Banners4All from The{Stamps}of Life
Cardstock: Berry Sorbet from Papertrey Ink, Whisper White from SU, My Mind's Eye Tickled Pink, Dish All the Dirt Brown from Clear & Simple Stamps
Inks: Certainly Celery from SU, Dish All the Dirt Brown from Clear & Simple Stamps

and this card is based off Sketch #55 that Chan created

Supplies used:
Stamp Sets: Birthday Buddies from Papersmooches

Inks: Perfect Little Black Dress and Copic Markers B00, BG05, YR68
