Blogger's Challenge 152: Sketch

Yeah!  It's Friday!!!  This week seems to have dragged on by and I'm so thankful that the weekend is here and that there is NO baseball.  We were so busy last weekend with our neighborhood yard sale but were able to get some Spring cleaning done along the way which I am thankful for.

Today, our challenge Mom gave us a sketch to try.  I *love* sketches!!!  I know I've said this before, but sketches and color challenges are 2 of my favorites.  It is such a big jumping point for me when I work with those type of challenges.  Then again, some do take me forever as well.

When I saw this large panel on this card, I knew I wanted to use this stamp from Stampotique.  I've had it in my stash for awhile and after an episode that occurred the other night with my little gal and her crafting abilities, I thought this was perfect.  My 2 younger ones are so darn adorable and innocent looking but t hose two are so mischevious!!! My daughter was crafting with me (across from me) and she was bent over underneath the desk.  She loves to cut paper and so I have taught her to do it over the garbage.  Didn't think anything of it until she popped her head up and I noticed the big chunks of hair missing.  You can see how much she cut off :-(  So, tonight she will be getting a cute little bob cut with some bangs.  I know this happens to everyone, so I had to laugh at her doing it but was so upset as she has such gorgeous hair (although you can't tell from the moppy mess here after a hard day playing outside).

So, this stamp makes me laugh thinking these are my 2 little ones on my shoulder-my parents say it's payback for my antics when I was a wee little one.  This is a LARGE stamp so I used a square card with this sketch.  I was channeling my inner Gerrie and Lisa here using some colors that I don't normally lean towards.  I colored her robe with my copics and then sponged it with some Colorless blender solution to give it a more worn look.  I used 2 of my new stamps from my bud Jo Capper-Sandon, Splatter Long and French Text which I stamped on some Collage Sheets and then used some Glossy Accents to apply some square fragments from Tim Holtz over the stamped sheets.

Make sure to check out the other Blogger's Challenge girls here to see their take on this sketch.

Card details:
Stamps: Queen of Life, Splatter Long, and French Text from Stampotique Originals
Cardstock: Basic Black, Really Rust, Collage Sheets from Stampotique Originals and Stamper's Select White
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics
Accessories: Glossy Accents

What a fun image! Love those clear squares on the side, too! Why is it that kids want to cut their hair...mine took a razor to his head when he was younger...right before Easter! Grrrr...

Oh I forgot the "Hair" incident made me chuckle...how well I remember Coleen and her hair cutting. Glad you weren't to upset about it.
